Susanna Reid and Ed Balls invited Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves onto the latest instalment of Good Morning Britain to discuss Labour’s proposed tax cuts. However, Reid could not resist talking about the politician’s “very noticeable” new hairstyle before grilling her about policies. Balls and ITV viewers were quick to scold Reed for commenting on Reeves’ appearance.

At the start of the interview, Reid threw Reeves off-course by asking her about her “very noticeable” fresh trim as she was sporting a choppy bob with a fringe.

Reeves replied to Reed said her haircut was “more responsible than the cuts we have seen from the Chancellor”.

Balls scolded Reed following the interview, telling her: “I’d be in big trouble if I was to comment on her hair.”

Reed defended her comments, adding: “I just thought when you see a politician in a certain way and notice a big difference [you can comment].”
