The Apprentice fans sent into a frenzy following harsh double firing in season first

The Apprentice fans were shocked as two contestants went home this week in a double firing.

Making the first time it’s happened in this series, Lord Sugar sent two business hopefuls packing on Thursday (2 March), as Avi Sharma and Bradley Johnson were sent home.

The two men were sent home following a disastrous episode which followed the contestants as they designed a men’s skincare product, before pitching it to industry buyers.

One team designed a disastrous product which dyed its users’ skin green while the others were ridiculed for designing a product they thought could also be used as a paperweight.

Bradley was team leader for his group and was sent home after the team’s unsuccessful green goo face product left a green stain on people’s skin after using it.

Lord Sugar told Bradley: “Disgrace, total disgrace. Bradley, three times project manager, three times you've tried to change the product when you're pitching it.

“I've told you before, I don't ever want to see you back in this boardroom again, and I'll tell you what, I'm never going to see you back in this boardroom again. Bradley – you're fired.”

The team were sent to the cafe to discuss what went wrong, before being called back into the boardroom, which saw Lord Sugar send Avi home.

Lord Sugar said: “Avi that concoction you put it on your skin, and it dyed your skin green…. Avi you've grown in this process since you came here and I'm very pleased about that for you. But it is regretful, that Avi, you're fired”.

Fans on social media found themselves surprised to see two contestants go home this week, a first for this series.

One person wrote on Twitter: “This series of the Apprentice needed a double firing because literally everyone is useless. Not sure there is one likeable person left. Maybe Simba? Avi was lovely but absolutely mad”.

Another person wrote: “I was convinced that making 50+ year old men looking like Shrek, Hulk, Yoda and Mike Wasowski’s messy fun times *wink wink* would be enough for a triple firing ngl”.

Meanwhile, a third person wrote: “Ngl, firing Bradley like that was harsh. Tim was there when Rochelle didn't let Avi do anything; and ultimately he should've defended his shit design as much as Rochelle (mainly) and Avi defended making the green shit.”

However, it looks like the Avi and Bradley might not be too devastated about leaving the series.

In the taxi after being fired, Avi promised big things after departing the show.

Avi said: “I'm only 24 and my potential is sky high, so this is not the last you will see of this tall, dark, handsome gentleman.”

The Apprentice continues on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
