Boxer Marnie Swindells ended up being crowned winner of The Apprentice as the series drew to a close, meaning she secured the £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar. Court advocate Marnie had big plans to open a boxing gym in the capital, and this week’s episode of the BBC favourite saw her pitching her plans to some of the biggest names in the industry. Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press ahead of the episode airing, Marnie and runner-up Rochelle Anthony revealed an emotional behind-the-scenes moment which had them in tears.
Business magnate Alan Sugar ultimately decided to put his money into Marnie’s gym plan.
However, reflecting on her time in the show, Rochelle revealed how pleased she had been to make it all the way to the final.
When asked about her highlights, she detailed a moment the camera didn’t film.
“I think it was probably the dog food task,” the salon owner answered.
She continued: “I think because it was the last task and what you didn’t see was that me, Marnie, and Victoria [Goulbourne] got really emotional [during the filming].
“It was in the middle of a Pets at Home aisle! We were like, ‘Oh, we’ve finished!’
“I think it was like, ‘We’ve done all we can,’ and I think for me that was the best task because I was cooking, the product delivered, the dogs lapped up the food!
“And it was just like the last task really before the interviews and we’d done all we could.
“So I really enjoyed being in the kitchen again and yeah, just getting my creative juices flowing into that recipe.”
Agreeing, Marnie added: “It felt that last task was like a weight off our shoulders.
“Like it was a sense of relief because we knew that the next day Lord Sugar wasn’t going to say, ‘And today, ladies and gentlemen, we’re sending you to…’ So yeah, the weight was off.”
Fans of the series never saw the moment the trio broke down in tears as they felt the relief of the final task lifted from them.

Instead, the episode cut straight to the gruelling boardroom discussion, where Simba Rwambiwa’s firing meant it was once again an all-female final.
Last week, Dani Donovan, Megan Hornby, and Victoria were fired after the dreaded interview episode.
This left Marnie and Rochelle as the last candidates standing, and the pressure was on as each fought for the investment which seemed so close.
While Rochelle ultimately missed out, she told Express.co.uk and other media how much she supported her co-star.
“Obviously, I was disappointed,” she admitted. “But I don’t think anyone deserves it more than Marnie.
“I think she’s a very credible winner and I was proud to have had her by my side in the final.
“So yeah, this isn’t the end for me. I’m still going to move forward with my business.
“But yeah, it’s just honestly been the best opportunity to have even got as far as I did.”
The Apprentice is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
