The Chase is a tiny part of my life – my other job is way more challenging, admits chaser Darragh Ennis | The Sun

THE Chase's Darragh Ennis has revealed how his other job is way more challenging than the ITV quiz show.

Darragh, 43, joined The Chase in 2020 and has won a legion of fans ever since.

However, Darragh juggles his role as a Chaser with his day job as a neuroscientist and entomologist.

Speaking about his two jobs, Darragh said: "The chase is only a tiny part of my work life, I spend more time working on my other job as a scientist way more.

"So the end of the week I will be in the lab, so that is way more difficult to balance, my second job is more challenging than that.

"So yeah I just make time for it whenever I can, this is my side gig, I make time for this."

Darragh had first appeared on the show as a contestant in 2017 and impressed bosses with his knowledge.

But speaking about the challenges he faced when he first made the switch from contestant to Chaser, Darragh told Express.co.uk: "There was quite a big gap in time making that step and me being on camera, and the major one is that I didn't grow up here.

"So things that British people just know, I didn't know. Things that would be considered very easy for a British person, were very difficult for someone who wasn't born here."

In an episode last year, Darragh stunned host Bradley Walsh when he revealed his colleagues in the laboratory don't watch The Chase.

"Are you still working in your lab?" asked Walsh.

"Oh yeah, be back on Monday," Darragh replied.

"What do they say when they see you on the telly?" said Bradley.

"Oh most of them don't watch it [The Chase]," Darragh said as the audience erupted into laughter.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
