The Chase icon Anne Hegerty was left baffled after she disputed the answer to one of her questions.

Host Bradley Walsh quizzed the duo and asked them to explain "what mulch is used for," and their options were "enriching soil, deterring pests or increasing sunlight".

They locked in their answers but Anne had a bone to pick with ITV producers about the options she was given.

Anne exclaimed: "It doesn't really enrich soil, mulch is quite often simply wood chip. The only affect it has is that it locks in the moisture, which wasn't up there!"

Later on, Hegerty made another savage quip toward the show producers.

She said: "In the meantime, I'm going to have an argument about what mulch is used for. Sometimes it's cardboard, you know!"

Bradley jokingly wished "good luck" to whoever she was off to argue with and cut to a commercial break.

Fans took to Twitter to comment on the round and one admitted they thought mulch was used to "suppress weeds and help with moisture retention," while another was amazed to find that mulch is spelled with a "u," not an "o".

Elsewhere in the competition, one question left Bradley Walsh in stitches as he read out some naughty sounding names.

The question asked contestants to answer what name Scottish "tattie scones" are known by in Ireland, but Walsh could barely contain his laughter to read out the answers.

Option A was "fadge," option B was "Menge" and option C was "Clonge," which Bradley read as he tried to hold back the giggles.

He eventually managed to compose himself and read out the correct answer after a bit of support from Hegerty, who urged that "he could do it".

The audience laughed along with him as he asked the contestant what they'd put, which was A as they "knew it was a thing".

Bradley then joked that a "touch of fadge" was "exactly what you want with breakfast" and left the studio in fits of laughter once more.

Walsh then revealed that the correct answer was indeed "fadge" and the contestant went through with £5,000.
