The Chase fans were left in tears after one contestant made a hilarious comment which also made host Bradley Walsh lose his composure.

Bradley welcomed four contestants to the ITV gameshow to test their general knowledge for the chance to win a top cash prize.

Their chaser was Anne Hegerty, known as The Governess, and Stuart was the second contestant to take his place at the podium.

Bradley chatted to the hopeful and the topic of conversation turned to sport.

Walsh wondered whether Stuart had done any running when he was younger, but couldn't predict the response which left him in stitches.

He said: "The only thing I ran to was the fridge!"

The studio erupted with laughter and Bradley threw his head back in glee as he chuckled at the guest's self deprecating comment.

The presenter took a moment to compose himself as Stuart giggled and Bradley attempted to continue with the programme.

He moved on and the player began answering a slew of quiz questions but viewers couldn't get over Stuart's hilarious comment.

Fans loved Stuart's joke so much that they rushed to share their thoughts on Twitter.

A tickled viewer tweeted: "The only thing I run to is the fridge.' Relatable," and added a laughing emoji.

Another fan wrote: "The only thing I ran to was the fridge" and posted a gif of two Minions laughing together.

One simply wrote: "I think Stuart is ace," with a thumbs up emoji.

The Chase fans were recently left fuming after a contestant gave a "wrong" correct answer.

Karen, a retired nurse from Whitley Bay, gave the "incorrect" ending to a phrase, but Bradley told her that the answer was correct.

Bradley asked her to complete the phrase "the lights are on by nobody's…" to which Karen replied "in".

Fans couldn't believe their ears when Walsh told her that she had responded correctly and quickly flooded social media with complaints.

One confused viewers said that they should "revolt" as the phrase is "definitely home," so they "can't all be wrong".

Another baffled fan admitted they "thought the answer was home" while another said that Karen "looked like the lights are on but the curtains are closed".
