The Crown unveils two release dates as Netflix issues first look at series six

Netflix has revealed two air dates for the sixth and final series of The Crown.

The Twitter account for Netflix UK and Ireland posted a short trailer for the new series and captioned it: “It is not a choice.

“It is a duty. The final season of The Crown arrives next month. Part 1: 16 November Part 2: 14 December.”

Fans will be thrilled they don’t have too long to wait before continuing the show, but the release will also mark the last in the series.

The episodes are set to be split into two parts, spanning from 1997 to 2005.

The teaser trailer sees the late Queen Elizabeth II portrayed once again by Imelda Staunton.

As parts of her speeches throughout the years is shown, the teaser ends with her asking: “But what about the life I put aside? The woman I put aside?”

The trailer then reads: “The final chapter begins, 16 November.”

It didn’t take long for fans to respond to the update, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts.

Twitter user @itstomgardiner penned: “I know people may not be royalists or agree with this show but for me this show has been an exceptional, beautiful production.

“And I for one am sad this is the final season, so a little relieved it’s split in two parts. I really hope you green light that rumoured prequel.”

@lexijJoanna04 simply wrote: “FINALLY,” and @MisthiosGamer cricitsed the platform for its decision to split the series, writing: “Omg Netflix!! Why have you started splitting your TV shows seasons like that?

“Especially when it’s a final series! You are going to make us wait another whole month for part 2 which will consist of the last two ever episodes?? That’s is ridiculous.” (sic)

Part one of The Crown series six will land on Netflix on November 16.
