The Crown's creator breaks silence after major fan backlash over leaked season six scene | The Sun

THE CROWN received backlash from fans after it was revealed that Princess Diana was set to appear as a ghost in season six.

Viewers were disturbed to hear that actress Elizabeth Debicki would make a reappearance after Diana's death, branding the planned scenes 'tasteless'.

Now the show's creator Peter Morgan has shared why he wanted to include this segment in the royal series.

He explained she was not intended to be seen as a ghost but a figure in the imagination of Prince Charles and the Queen.

Peter told Variety magazine: "I never imagined it as Diana’s 'ghost' in the traditional sense.

"It was her continuing to live vividly in the minds of those she has left behind.
