The Masked Dancer 2022’s Sea Slug finally unveiled as Olympic gold medalist

The Masked Dancer's Sea Slug has been unveiled as none other than Olympic gold medalist Denise Lewis.

In the semi-final show, the panel, which consists of Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and guest panellist John Bishop, put their heads together to try and figure out who was behind the mask.

But, after all the other characters had danced, the audience voted and left Sea Slug and Odd Socks in the bottom two. Following a brief deliberation, Sea Slug was voted off by the panel.

Hidden behind the mask was Denise, 50, who told host Joel Dommett: “It’s been outstanding, seriously!”

She then spoke on how she coped while keeping her involvement in the show a secret as she shared: “That has been the most challenging part of doing the show – not being able to say a word.”

Admitting she hadn’t even told her husband, Steve Finan O'Connor, Denise added: “Didn’t tell him… I’ve been the best student, I have to say.”

Fans immediately flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts as one person wrote: "Legend! Denise Lewis!"

Another shared: "Well done @RealDeniseLewis what a brilliant, amazing, gorgeous #seaslug you were on the #MaskedDancer tonight!!" alongside four clapping hands emojis.

"Well done Denise." a third said, while a fourth added: "You were and are sensational".

Denise, who won the gold medal in the heptathlon at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, has since taken to her own Twitter feed to share: "Yep it’s me! Thanks #MaskedDancerUK I had a blast as a giant #seaslug," with a stars eyes emojis.
