Maddy Smedley won masses of fans when she appeared in the hit TV show The Traitors.
Despite hiding from her fellow participants that she was an actress who’d previously had roles in Casualty and EastEnders, Maddy made it almost to the end of the show because she came across as likeable and trustworthy.
She finally revealed her acting experience to her fellow participants saying, ‘I didn’t want you to think I was dodgy if I came in here and said I was an actor. I’ve played it as myself.’
Since leaving the show Maddy has announced that she’s expecting a baby, and in other good news she bagged herself a part in Hollyoaks as talent agent Faye Fuller.
It’ll become apparent that Faye wants to get influencer Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan) on the reality show Love Cave, but will she pick up on the social media star’s dark side that’s recently been seen?
Maddy described Faye’s character as ‘Trashy, sassy and a bit cutthroat. She’s a bit more brutal than me in real life. She’s like Del Boy mixed with Deborah Meaden.’

Speaking to OK magazine she said she was excited to be working alongside her Hollyoaks co-stars, including Jemma Donovan and Owen Warner, who plays Romeo Nightingale. ‘When you think, “Oh my God, I know you from Hollyoaks and I’m A Celeb” – that was a bit daunting,’ she admitted. ‘But they act like normal humans.’
And speaking of ‘normal humans,’ nobody is more down-to-earth and open about their success than Maddy herself. Ahead of her appearance on Hollyoaks in Monday (August 21)’s episode, she posted to X (formerly Twitter) that she’s an ‘anxious mess’ waiting to see how she will be received.
‘POV every actor trying to self promote their work.
‘Tonight if you’re free 6:30pm @Hollyoaks,’ she wrote, adding: ‘no worries if not, no biggy jus 5 mins, if you have time, totally understand if not cos life is busy. No time. What’s time lol. N I’m an anxious mess so actually maybe na don’t watch 😂✌🏼’
While Maddy is busy being modest and self-effacing, elsewhere on X there’s high praise for the actress from one of Hollyoaks’ directors, Charlotte Conquest, who is clearly impressed with Maddy’s work. She used the platform to heap praise on the soap’s new recruit:
