CHANNEL 4 is unleashing new gritty drama The Undeclared War.

The six-part series explores the threat of an unknown enemy nation engaging in a new Cold War in the age of cyber warfare.

Who is in the cast of The Undeclared War?

Channel 4's The Undeclared War is set in 2024 in the run-up to a UK general election.

The series sees a leading team of analysts at GCHQ secretly working to ward off a cyber attack on the country’s electoral system.

In a thrilling cat and mouse game, the team at GCHQ must try to stay one step ahead and anticipate their opponents' every hidden move.

Th series bring with it a strong cast of top actors.

Simon Pegg

Simon Pegg leads the cast as Head of Operations at GCHQ, Daniel Patrick in The Undeclared War.

The actor started his career in goofy comedy Spaced in the 90s, and now can command big roles.

Speaking about the part, he told The Sun: “It is a more dramatic role and something that I really relished – I trained to do that kind of thing.

“But I took a particular path and it’s really lovely to be able to jump onto another path.

“I relate more to Danny now in my life, at 52, than I do Shaun (Shaun of The Dead) or any of those characters I’ve played – particularly Tim in Spaced, who was sort of a stoner who didn’t know what to do with his life."

Actor Adrian Lester plays Andrew Makinde, the UK’s first Black Conservative Prime Minister.

He has starred in a number TV shows, but is probably best known for his role in Hustle as Mickey Stone.

Adrian also played Ellis Carter for nine episodes of American sitcom Girlfriends.

The actor appeared in the first season of Sky Atlantic drama series Riviera playing an art dealer called Robert Carver.

In 2022 he starred in ITV's Trigger Point alongside Line Of Duty's Vicki McClure.

Mark Rylance

Mark Rylance also stars as John Yeabsley.

His character is a retired Cold War veteran who’s brought back to GCHQ to help combat the new threat to Britain. 

Elsewhere, and actor Mark is best known for Bridge of Spies.

You may also recognise him from 2017 war epic Dunkirk.

Maisie Richardson-Sellers

Actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers plays American cyber-analyst Kathy Freeman.

Her character is on attachment at GCHQ from the NSA.

The British star is best known for her role as Eva Sinclair on The CW series The Originals, as well as her roles in Of Kings and Prophets, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Legends of Tomorrow.

Hannah Khalique-Brown

Newcomer Hannah Khalique-Brown takes on a huge role in The Undeclared War, as it is her character who first discovers the cyber attack.

The actress plays Saara Parvan, a young student doing work experience in GCHQ’s Malware Department. 

Her character suddenly finds herself operating on the invisible frontier of high-stakes cyber warfare.

The series also brings with it a strong supporting cast.

When is the Undeclared War on TV?

The Undeclared War premieres on Channel 4 on Thursday, June 30 at 9pm.

The six=part series will then continue on Thursday nights at the same time, and be available on All 4.

In the States, the series will be exclusive to Peacock, though we don't have a US release date series just yet.
