After weeks of speculation, Neighbours was given the chop when Fremantle Media, the production company in charge of the program, failed to find another broadcaster.

The show, which became a daytime TV staple in Australia and in the UK, originally aired on BBC One in October, 1986.

Neighbours stars wrapped up for the last time in June, 2022, and their last moments on the Kennedy set in Melbourne were shared via behind-the-scenes photos.

Channel 5 decided to stop airing the iconic soap after 14 years to focus more on UK-based drama – but the broadcaster is still keen on creating more Australian shows with British stars.

Speaking to TV Tonight on June 7, Daniel Monaghan, Senior Vice President of programming and content at Network 10 said: "We did Lie with Me, last year but there are three more, and they’re all being shot in Australia."
