AMC’s hit horror series The Walking Dead returned to screens for an explosive episode and this time saw the death of Sebastian Milton (Teo Rapp-Olsson). Showrunner Angela Kang spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk and opened up about the character’s death.
As The Walking Dead approaches its last-ever finale, the most recent episode titled A New Deal came to a jaw-dropping end.
The Commonwealth had descended into chaos after its residents began to protest outside the office of Governor Pamela Milton (Laila Robins).
They were demanding justice for April Martens (Wynn Everett) who died during a cash heist organised by Pamela’s insufferable son Sebastian.
The crowd had also refused to listen to seek refuge after warnings a swarm of Walkers was approaching.

Pamela blamed Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton) for the deaths in front of everybody and believed this would clear Sebastian of any guilt as she stated he would take over the Milton legacy.
However, he couldn’t help but detail how much he hated the people of the Commonwealth in front of Max Mercer (Margot Bingham) who began to secretly record.
The recording was used against him and rang across the union square where the crowd were protesting.
Sebastian’s rant was played on the speakers and as the protesters listened in shock, emotions quickly turned to fear as the Walkers made their appearance.
While people ran havoc and tried to get away, Sebastian spotted Max in the crowd and held her in his grasp.
As she struggled, he spotted a Walker and pushed her in its direction but thankfully her boyfriend Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) ran towards her and forced the zombie off her.
As Eugene pushed the Walker it landed on top of Sebastian who screamed for help.
But instead, a crowd formed around him while the recording echoed as if to play on a loop and people watched as the Walker took a bite out of his neck and ultimately killed him.
Speaking on Sebastian’s death, showrunner Angela revealed: “We always knew that Sebastian was going to meet some kind of bloody end and the question was just where did that happen.
“At first, we had plans for his death to happen much later, but as we were working on the story, it felt like in the particular situation that occurs in that episode.
“That some sense of stakes were important and also it just felt like it was an opportunity to turn the story in a different direction for our heroes.”
Angela teased: “Things are going to get even harder for them now, sometimes it just makes sense.”
The showrunner added: “That often happens when we’re working on the stories.
“We’ll go like, ‘we think this happens here’ and then we’ll be like let’s slide it, changes happen afterwards.”
Eugene’s fate remains uncertain as a trailer for next week’s episode revealed Pamela wanted to seek revenge for her son’s death.
Mercer (Michael James Shaw) could be seen telling Lydia (Cassady McClincy): “Milton’s son’s dead and she wants Eugene for it.”
To which she responded with: “If they catch him, he’s dead.”
The Walking Dead season 11 airs on AMC on Sundays in the US and Disney+ on Mondays in the UK.
