This Morning fans not impressed as they accuse caller of ‘fat shaming’ Alison Hammond

This Morning fans have been left unimpressed after a caller contacted the show and appeared to "fat shame" host Alison Hammond.

The moment came during Friday morning's episode when caller Dionne contacted the panel, with the question: "How do I find love again at 57?"

She told Alison, 47, and co-host Dermot O'Leary, 49: "I don't like being single and, I have to say, Alison probably understands me in this next sentence; I am a plus size lady and that seems to go against what a lot of them men out there are going for."

Without complaining, Alison reassuringly responded: "If that person's not into you, then that's not your person."

She continued: "There's plenty of other people who are going to love all that fluff babes, they're going to love all that juice, trust me.

"A lot of them say they don't like it, but when they have a taste of it, they absolutely love it.

"Don't even worry about that, put it – the bigness – to the back of your mind and let your personality come through because once they see who you truly are, I'm telling you, they will fall in love with you."

Although it appeared as though Alison had been able to shrug off the comment her fans clearly didn't see it that way and rallied around her.

Taking to Twitter, one person demanded: "Stop body shaming Alison #ThisMorning."

Another fumed at the caller, saying: "F**kin hell Dionne the shade #thismorning."

A third wrote: "If I was Alison I’d give this Dionne a slap if I ever met her, body shaming her.. #thismorning."

And a fourth tried to comfort Alison, tweeting: "I think @AlisonHammond has lost weight in my opinion #thismorning."

Alison and Dermot present the ITV breakfast show on a Friday when Holly Willougby and Philip Schofield are off.

The brummie presenter recently revealed that in a bid to shed a few extra pounds she'd decided to cut out sugar.

She also told of how in July she had weighed her heaviest, weighing in at 20st. She told The Sun that she'd teamed up with Weight Watchers who taught her that her snacking could be down to dehydration.

She said: "I didn’t realise that often when I used to snack, it was because I was thirsty.

"I try to get through at least two litres of water every day now and that makes me feel so much better."

The presenter added: "Secondly, I’m doing a bit more exercise.

"I now have a personal trainer and he’s amazing. I work at my own pace – we do circuits and I absolutely love it."
