This Morning fans spot massive dig at Phillip Schofield as Holly starts show

This Morning fans were awkwardly reminded of axed host Phillip Schofield when they tuned into the ITV daytime show on Wednesday (June 28).

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Craig Doyle had plenty of people talking when they returned to the sofa and spoke to their This Morning colleague Luke Chilton about his dating disasters.

Having been on a total of 212 dates and finally found the love of his life after nearly giving up on dating apps, Luke revealed how his busy love life inspired his recent novel Don't Swipe Right.

Fans couldn't help cringing during the dating segment as it came shortly after Phillip's affair with a younger male colleague on the show, prompting his sensational exit from ITV.

Many viewers on Twitter thought the dating segment was poorly timed and some even felt it was a "massive dig" at Holly's former pal Phillip, given he was also an ITV employee with rocky romances.

One viewer wrote: "Surely a massive dig at Philip #ThisMorning."

Another said: "Very brave of #ThisMorning to cover dating disasters and have an ex-employee on to talk about it!! #Awks."

A third commented: "Bit of a ballsy topic after what went down with Phil #ThisMorning."

A fourth added: "He's not the only person on the #ThisMorning #ITVThisMorning team who's had a dating disaster!"
