Alison Hammond has become the new favourite to replace Holly Willoughby on This Morning following her shocking departure after 14 years of presenting the show.

On Tuesday (October 10), the mum-of-three confirmed that she “will not be returning” to the beloved daytime show in a lengthy post online.

Her exit from the show comes after a former Pizza Hut worker was charged with soliciting to commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap the TV presenter.

In the wake of her sudden exit, several names have been put forward to replace his job on the ITV show, with the top spot going to Brummy favourite Alison.

According to BonusCodeBets, the 48-year-old is the current evens favourite to take over the highly sort after role on the signature blue sofa. A spokesperson for the bookies said: “Holly Willoughby first began presenting This Morning in 2009 and will now permanently step away from hosting duties on the daytime show, leaving a seat on the blue sofa vacant for a new name. Alison Hammond is the current evens favourite according to the bookies.

Alisson first launched her television career back in 2002 when she appeared on the third series of Big Brother alongside the likes of Kate Lawler and Jade Goodey. It didn’t take long before she won over the hearts of the nation and landed herself a job on the ITV show weeks later.

During her time on This Morning, the star has interviewed countless Hollywood A-listers and she even got ‘married’ to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson twice on the programme. She also graced our screens when she went Down Under and joined the cast of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and strictly-come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing.

The loveable mum-of-one has certainly become the one to watch on the silver screen in recent months. Last month, she made her Channel 4 debut on the 14th series of The Great British Bake Off, replacing comic Matt Lucas alongside The Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding.

Other names suggested as possible candidates for Holly’s replacement include Rochelle Humes Amanda Holden and Ruth Langsford. The spokesperson went on: “Josie Gibson is next in the betting at 2/1. Outsiders for the role include 33/1 shots Davina McCall and Mel Giedroyc, while a return for Ruth Langsford is also 33/1 and Judy Finnigan is 50/1 to make a comeback.”

It comes after Holly broke the news of her sudden exit with a lengthy post online. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so, so much.
