After becoming a household name thanks to her stint on Top Chef Brazil and the BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals, Luciana Berry is now back in season 20 of the Bravo cooking contest. However, while show bosses are no strangers to including the slips, rows and all sorts of mishaps in the kitchen, Luciana exclusively revealed to Express.co.uk there was one moment from Top Chef Brazil producers “didn’t want” to air.

After all, Top Chef is renowned for its fast-paced action, rising temperatures, fiery outbursts and, of course, mouthwatering dishes.

So when Luciana and pal Cesar Scolari met in the final of Top Chef Brazil, it’s safe to say producers weren’t expecting their rather chummy head-to-head.

“So I have this chef Cesar Scolari, he’s the chef that did the final with me in Brazil,” Luciana revealed to when probed about what she’s been up to post-Top Chef Brazil.

“We did the final together and it was so funny because the Top Chef Brazil (producers) came to me in the final and he said, ‘Listen, you both are ridiculous.’

“‘You should be fighting and you guys are helping each other.’

“Because, I don’t know, he was cooking his dish and he said, ‘Try here for me if that needs acidity’,” Luciana cheerily recalled.

She went on: ”So they didn’t want to put that on TV because we’re so nice to each other, I was like I’m happy if he wins – of course, you want to win.

“So when they say that to us, I was even worse. I was like, ‘Try this, try that’,” she laughed.

The Top Chef star continued: “In the end, he didn’t have time to do his desserts. And I said, ‘If you don’t do your dessert, I’m going to your bench and I’m going to cook your dessert! So pull yourself together!’

“So me and him, we travel a lot to promote Brazilian cuisine. The Brazilian government asked me to travel so I travel a lot and I always ask him to come with me and we have a lot of fun.

“You can be professional and be happy and have fun.

“So we want to do like a Netflix thing with me and him to show like, how is the chef’s life, day by day, travelling the world doing this cooking show (showing) the way we deal with food. So we have tried to do that in this project.”

Luciana’s bubbly approach to the kitchen appears to have transferred into season 20 of the flagship series as well.

When asked about the atmosphere in the kitchen with so much talent around her, Luciana said of the new series: “For my part, it was a very friendly competition.

“Sometimes you just go on and ‘scoop’, it’s easy, just go to win (the money), like everybody wants to get that prize. The money is good.

“But one of the most important things is like we’re to learn because one of the things just like when you read cooking books, but you are now in the country, so I was like, with the best chefs in the world.

“So for me, it was like, to be honest, I was in school, like I learned different cultures like the way to cook and learned with the ingredients.

“For me was just more like a friendly (atmosphere). It was a competition also, but I took like, as a friendly game.”

But will Luciana emerge as the winner of Top Chef World All Stars or could another chef pip her to glory?
