Two Married At First Sight stars have confirmed that they are still in a relationship after the show. Peggy Rose, 32, and Georges Berthonneau, 30, were paired together by the match makers on the hit reality TV show on Channel 4.
MAFS sees two complete strangers meet for the first time at the altar on their wedding day, in a unique social experiment. It then follows them as they navigate their new romance, from sharing a honeymoon to meeting each others' family.
Peggy and Georges admitted that their "journey" had not been the smoothest on the show, however, they have delighted fans after confirming they are still going "strong" outside of the experiment.
In a joint Instagram post, the couple said: "CONFIRMED: We’re still together! We held back on sharing and smothering socials to give ourselves some much needed quality time post the show ending.
"Although we are in a relationship, we still have our own identity and individuality – that’s what makes us so strong. As cliche as this sounds, we want to thank you all for your patience – it hasn’t been easy, but sharing our journey with you means the world as your ongoing love and support are everything to us."
The couple then went on to confirm that they have more "exciting news" – that they have created joint Instagram accounts.
They have revealed to fans that their joint social media account is called @teamgeggy and it will be used to share updates about their life after MAFS and their "next chapter".
Already the joint Instagram account has racked up more than 27,000 followers, despite having no posts shared yet. Throughout MAFS, the pair had their struggles, particularly with intimacy, career prospects and family dynamics.
Peggy, who works in IT as a technology risk partner, confessed that she is much slower to share intimate moments with her partner than Georges is. Georges raised the issue of intimacy, admitting that he didn't feel "good enough" for Peggy.
Peggy then told the camera: "We've had so many obstacles and we've got through them all stronger than ever, but intimacy has not progressed, there are a few things that put me off Georges."
She added: "You can't put a date on when you have sex with someone."
Fans of the E4 show will also remember that Peggy's family weren't too keen on Georges at first. During her homestay, Peggy's dad voiced his worries about Georges' career goals and whether he could look after his daughter.
However Peggy has since cleared up her dad's comments, Peggy said: "When they said about wanting Georges to provide, it was to provide for a family.
"I have my own job, my own income, I would never expect a man to provide for me, I just want a man to bring to something to the table. My dad was only joking really he's similar to Georges, a laughing, joking character."
She added: "I said it to Georges on the programme and I said it to my dad many times, be careful what you say because you might think it's really funny but it could be offensive to others. If they don't take it the way you meant it, it could be quite hurtful."
After sharing the news that the couple remain together, fans are delighted that they have overcome their initial issues.
On Instagram, one fan commented: "How wonderful. This really is a fairy-tale and you’ve beaten all the odds. Wonderful post to read for me as I’ve had such a bad year and can’t wait for it to be over. Wishing you eternal happiness."
Another added: "Backed you both from the start.. both stayed true to yourself and your live has just grown and grown."
While a third said: "So happy for you both, I can honestly say I didn’t think Georges was for you. But wow his growth was amazing to watch. Good luck to you both. Loved watching your story, obviously we all want to know have you done the deed yet."
