SPANDAU BALLET legend Martin Kemp has enjoyed a highly successful career as a musician and actor.

The silver fox, dad of presenter Roman, is now set to appear as a panellist on Loose Men – a one-off ITV special to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

Who is Martin Kemp?

Martin Kemp was born on October 10, 1961, in Islington, London.

He is the younger brother of Spandau Ballet guitarist Gary Kemp.

Martin is married to Shirlie Holliman, a former backing singer for Wham! and one half of Pepsi and Shirlie.

The couple have two children, Harley Moon and Roman.

What is his net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Martin is worth $4million – around £2.83m.

Roman, meanwhile, is believed to be worth £1.1m.

The father and son duo are currently hosting their own show – Martin & Roman's Weekend Best! – on ITV.

Rumours suggest they are being paid £220,000 each for the new series of the hit show.

A TV insider told The Sun: "Martin and Roman are hot properties alone – but as a father-and-son double act, they’re almost priceless.

"When they signed up to present their new show, their management went hard on negotiations and they’ve walked away with a very attractive package.

"There are 22 episodes pencilled in for Martin and Roman so far and for each hour-long show they will be paid £10,000 each."

When did he join Spandau Ballet?

Martin joined Spandau Ballet in 1979 when the band manager suggested he became their bassist.

Martin managed to learn to play bass in just three months and joined the band, then named Gentry.

The group was later renamed Spandau Ballet and became one of the most successful groups of the 1980s.

Spandau Ballet had six albums during the decade, with True reaching No.1 in the British charts.

Martin and Gary went their separate ways in the early 90s after a reported dispute over royalties.

What TV shows has Martin Kemp appeared in?

Martin's biggest TV role was playing legendary villain Steve Owen in EastEnders between 1998 and 2002.

His character was involved in some of the most memorable storylines, including the ashtray murder of Saskia Duncan in Steve's nightclub e20.

Steve was eventually killed off after a speedy car chase where he had taken Phil Mitchell's young daughter Louise and ended in a flaming wreck.

Martin has also starred in ITV thriller The Brides in the Bath.

In his early career you may have caught both Martin and his brother Gary playing East End gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray in the British film The Krays.

In 2012 he placed third in the ninth series of Celebrity Big Brother.

In 2017 Martin was one of the judges on the Let It Shine panel – and in March 2018 Martin took part in Celebrity Bake Off where he tried to cook buttercream.

He has popped up on our screens a few times since – appearing on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls and Celebrity Gogglebox with Roman.
