It’s been a decade since Whitney Houston’s untimely death at just 48 after an incredible career saw her rise to the top as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Now The Voice is following Elvis in getting the movie biopic treatment this Christmas with I Wanna Dance With Somebody, which received its first trailer today.

British actress Naomi Ackie, best known for her role as Jannah in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker plays Houston opposite Stanley Tucci as record producer Clive Davis.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody is written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Anthony McCarten who has penned a number of biopics including Freddie Mercury movie Bohemian Rhapsody. His other credits include Darkest Hour, The Theory of Everything and The Two Popes.

Here’s the upcoming Christmas blockbuster’s synopsis and release date:

I Wanna Dance With Somebody hits cinemas on December 21, 2022.
