Who is Spain's Eurovision entry Blanca Paloma? | The Sun

EUROVISION is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

The annual Song Contest is being hosted in Liverpool, with Spain's Blanca Paloma hoping to impress the tough jury.

Who is Blanca Paloma?

Born on June 9, 1989, Blanca Paloma Ramos Baeza is a Spanish singer, set designer and costume designer.

Since her rise to fame in 2021, the singer from Elche has released five singles.

According to Blanca's Eurovision bio,as of 2023 she is producing her debut album based on "the idea of a ‘rite’ or ‘ceremony’ that connects us with what is pre-rational and instinctive; through experimentation and experience".

What is Blanca Paloma's Eurovision song?

Blanca will be performing her song Eaea at Eurovision 2023.

The song was released in her home country on December 20, 2022.

According to Blanca's Eurovision bio, Eaea is a song "rich in flamenco-inspired sounds and syncopated beats, which is in keeping with Blanca’s trademark style of mixing the traditional with the avant-garde and modern pop".

This isn't the first time the song has been entered into a competition, as the tune also won first place at Benidorm Fest 2023.

Has Spain ever won Eurovision?

Spain won the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1968 with the song La, La, La by Massiel.

They then became the first country to win the Song Contest twice in succession, taking the victory in both 1968 and 1969.

The 1969 Eurovision Song Contest was held in the Spanish capital of Madrid.

Spain had a great year at the 2022 Contest as SloMo gave them their first Top 3 result since 1995.

When did Spain join Eurovision?

Spain first appeared in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 in Cannes.

They have returned to every Song Contest since, becoming the country to participate the most number of times in a row since their debut without skipping an edition.

They are also one of Eurovision's "Big Five", which means they automatically get a place in the grand final.
