The Capture returned for a second outing last month and has had BBC viewers gripped every Sunday and Monday night for the past few weeks. With the series now almost over, the question on fans’ lips is, will The Capture be back for more in the hopefully not-so-distant future? DCI Carey actress Holliday Grainger has opened up about what lies ahead for the drama.

Will there be another series of The Capture?
The Capture made a comeback for its second series on Sunday, August 28, after three years away from the small screen.
Fans have been obsessed with every new instalment that has come out, so it’s no wonder they are eager to find out if there will be a third season on the way.
Sadly, as of writing this article, there has been no confirmation from the BBC of another series just yet.
But leading lady Holliday Grainger has already said that she would be up for reprising her role of DCI Carey again.
“It goes on such a journey from the beginning, Carey and the plot”, Grainger told RadioTimes.com.
“It goes on such a massive journey throughout season two that where we’re left, the world, I want to know what happens next.
“So I’d love to watch season 3 for sure (laughs).”
With Grainger up for filming more and The Capture’s general popularity, there is a good chance it could return for more.
In terms of a possible release date, that wouldn’t be the easiest to predict.
Fans had to wait three years for the release of this second series because of the coronavirus pandemic.
So there is no set pattern for when The Capture comes out but if it is renewed, it may be back sometime in August/September 2023, going by the previous series.
Following the penultimate episode last night [Sunday, September 11], fans were left confused and excited in equal measures.

At the end of the instalment, Rachel was being chased by two assassins that shot Patrick Flynn (played by Cavan Clerkin).
But in an unexpected moment, one of those following her turned to his accomplice and shot him before forcing Rachel into the back of a van.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer stated: “#TheCapture @BBCOne – I’ve literally lost the plot.”
While a second commented: Anyone want to explain it to me? Just finished episode five and I’m confused.”
The final episode of season two will be shown on Monday, September 12.
The synopsis for The Flip reads: “The net tightens.
“After DCI Carey is kidnapped, her instincts are proved right, but she is in more danger than ever before, while Isaac Turner pursues his own agenda.”
The Capture concludes on Monday, September 12, at 9pm on BBC One.
