POP Idol star Will Young has broken his silence on the tragic death of singer Darius Campbell Danesh last week.
The Leave Right Now singer – who rose to fame alongside Darius in 2001 on the ITV show – paid tribute to his fellow finalist.
Will, 43, took to his social media to share a throwback snap of the pair hugging each other – penning an emotional caption.
The Pop Idol winner wrote: "For the past few days my thoughts have been with Darius's family and will continue to be so.
"I found this picture a while ago taken during Pop Idol.
"If there was ever an example of not giving up on your dreams then Darius is top of the pile. Driven, courageous and gentle."
Will concluded his post: "My love goes to his family at this time."

Darius was tragically found dead in his US apartment August 11, with cops ruling out any suspicious circumstances.
A statement released by his family read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh.
"Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners' office.
"The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances.

"The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue.
"We ask that you kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother."
Tributes for the singer soon came flooding in, with the likes of Simon Cowell and Gareth Gates paying their respects.

The pair both went barefoot as they hung out in Malibu close to where fellow Scotsman Gerard lives.
The singer had escaped death previously after being involved in a car crash in Spain and slipping into a coma after contracting meningitis when he drank water from the Thames.
