77 people including 26 kids rescued from dungeon after being kidnapped by cult church 'to await second coming of Jesus’ | The Sun

A TOTAL of 25 people including 26 children have been rescued from a dungeon after they were kidnapped by a church cult and were told 'to await the return of Jesus'.

Police in Nigeria rescued the victims from a crammed dungeon in the Valentino Area of Ondo town, Ondo State.

A police spokesperson said they were instructed to stay in the church and expect the second coming of Jesus Christ.

The victims were kept in an underground cell with some believed to have been there for months while others have even left school to be in the church.

The raid at the Whole Bible Believers Church came after a mum reported her children missing as she thought they were at church.

Police say they are investigating suspected mass abduction while the pastor of the Pentecostal church, David Anifowoshe, and his deputy have been arrested.

She added that police rescued in total 26 children, eight teenagers and 43 adults.
