Anna Delvey being sued by former lawyer over $152,000 in unpaid fees

Now fake heiress Anna Delvey is being sued by her former lawyer over $152,000 in unpaid fees after the convicted fraudster claimed she withheld court records needed to fight deportation

  • Thomas was dropped by Delvey last year and will now sue her former client
  • Former lawyer claims she has been lying to get out of paying huge legal fees

Fake heiress Anna ‘Delvey’ Sorokin, the inspiration behind Netflix’s hit show ‘Inventing Anna’ is being sued by her former lawyer over alleged unpaid fees.

Audrey A. Thomas was hired in 2020 to represent Delvey in an immigration case and to appeal her conviction of scamming $200,000 from banks and companies.

The relationship soured and Delvey dropped Thomas last April, saying she withheld records in her case.

The since-disbarred lawyer brushed off the claims, telling DailyMail.com: ‘[Delvey] can kiss my a**.’

As Delvey sues her former lawyer for the court records, Thomas will now fight back, according to a Manhattan Supreme Court filing, which claims Delvey has lied to get out of paying ‘astronomical legal fees’.

Delvey’s lavish lifestyle as a con artist was captured in 2022 miniseries ‘Inventing Anna’.

The show tells the story of a woman leading New York’s elite to believe she is a German heiress to a large fortune in order to bank a personal hoard of cash and goods as she looks to open an art-themed club.

The ‘Soho Grifter’ pretended to be a German heiress with a 60mn euro fortune before she was found out and arrested.

Despite being sentenced to four years in jail in April 2019, Delvey was released on good behavior until she was re-arrested for overstaying her visa.

She has since been on house-arrest at her East Village apartment in Manhattan and has recently announced the launch of a podcast, recorded under house arrest.

Guests are said to include Emily Ratajkowski, Julia Fox and Whitney Cummings, as she discusses ‘what it means to be a rule-breaker’.

Delvey has continued to clash with her former lawyer, who she has claimed failed to turn over records she needs to fight a deportation order and appeal her conviction.

In March this year, Thomas collapsed in court as she faced Delvey in Manhattan Civil Court.

She said: ‘My heart is hurting me! I need an ambulance!’

After a brief delay while the former attorney was wheeled out of the courtroom on a stretcher, Delvey emerged victorious as the judge ordered Thomas to hand over the documents.

Thomas was disbarred in November after she allegedly stole money from an elderly client.

In the new court papers, seen by the New York Post, she referred to this, saying that her disbarment ‘does not negate the balance that the defendant owes’.

Thomas was held in contempt of court and fined $1,000 a day ‘until she either returns the materials or provides and explanation’ as to their whereabouts.

After being dropped by Delvey, Thomas previously sent two batches of the deportation documents in August to Delvey’s new legal team.

However, she allegedly failed to turn over ‘any of the digital audio recordings of (Delvey’s) immigration court hearings,’ according to the lawsuit against her.

The convicted fraudster also alleged that Thomas withheld her personal property, claiming she is concealing the items because she has a ‘vendetta’ against her.
