Boots freezes prices of 1,500 own-brand products until end of the year

Boots freezes prices of 1,500 own-brand products including toothpaste, shampoo, nappies and shower gel until end of the year

  • The retailer has announced the move as the cost of living continues to spiral
  • It has also expanded its range of own-brand products with prices from 40p
  •  The ‘newly expanded’ range will offer ‘trusted quality and expertise’

Boots has announced it is freezing the price of more than 1,500 products so customers can continue to afford them during the cost-of-living crisis.

The High Street pharmacist says it will keep prices the same for own-brand items including toothpaste, shampoo, nappies and shower gel until the end of the year.

The cost of living crisis has seen millions of families forced to tighten their belts as a combination of soaring energy bills and rampant inflation puts the squeeze on household finances.

Steve Ager, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Boots UK said the move was designed to reassure customers during the cost-of-living crisis.

Boots has 100 of its own-brand products for £1 or less, and 1,000 for £2 or less

The retailer is offering the price freeze in part due to the cost of living squeeze, which is seeing millions of families struggling to afford everyday essentials

‘We always try to offer great value and the best price for our customers,’ he said.

‘In pulling together the list of products to include in the Price Lock Promise, we reviewed the lines that customers buy most regularly as well as those that are deemed to be day-to-day essentials.

‘We want customers to feel reassured that the prices of a large selection of health and beauty favourites will be staying the same, helping them to continue to buy the quality lines they love at Boots.’

The retailer said its ‘newly expanded’ range would offer ‘trusted quality and expertise at low prices’ for customers.

In addition to the price freezes, 100 Boots products are now available at £1 or less and 1000 are available at £2 or less.

The lowest price items begin from just 40p.

The high street pharmacist also stressed it offers deals and promotions on more than 1,300 products across its stores at any one time.

The recently launched Price Advantage scheme provides Boots Advantage Card holders with exclusive discounts on over 400 products each month.

With an average saving of £2.65 per product, the scheme has helped customers to save over £8million to date.

More than one million customers have already used the Price Advantage scheme to save money on their purchases.

It also donates products to The Hygiene Bank, a charity which provides hygiene products to people living in poverty.

Boots has donated over 680,000 products to the scheme since 2020, and customers can also contribute via donation points in over 470 stores or through e-vouchers on boots.com.

Boots’ move follows fellow retailer Superdrug, which recently announced a price freeze across 100 of its essential products, before expanding it to another 30.
