Care home murder probe after resident in his 70s with dementia suffered serious head injury and died days later | The Sun

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a care home resident with dementia passed away.

Police were called to Hulton House Care Residence in Preston, Lancashire in the early hours of November 3 2022 after reports of an assault.

An officer found a man in his 70s who had suffered a serious head injury.

The OAP was rushed to hospital, but died five days later.

Lancashire Police have stated that a suspect has been identified but no arrests have yet been made.

The force said: "Our thoughts remain with his family at this extremely difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers."

LancsLive have reported that the investigation is being treated as a murder inquiry.

The Care Quality Commission visited the home after the death and recently published their report.

The regulator gave the home an 'inadequate' rating, which the report said was based on the mismanagement of medicines, poor behaviour management and a lack of personal preference in care plans.
