Chocolate fans warned to grab the last of popular confectionery set to vanish from shelves
- The chocolate is a ‘favourite’ of Piers Morgan’s – who was outraged by its axing
A beloved chocolate bar is set to vanish from UK shelves – and fans are being warned to grab their last one soon.
Mars sent fury through confectionery lovers when it was revealed that the dark chocolate bounty has been discontinued – most angry of all was Piers Morgan.
‘I’ve just been told my favourite dark chocolate red wrapper Bounty bars have been discontinued,’ Morgan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. ‘And this is the last one left in my dressing room stockpile.’
‘I’m outraged,’ he continued. ‘This will cause immeasurable harm to my mental health. Please reconsider.’
However, Mars Wrigley UK have said the disappearance of the chocolate bar from shelves is ‘temporary’, adding that there are hopes it can be brought back.

Back in November 2022 it was announced the confectionery had been ‘delisted’ for the time being due to ‘operational reasons’.
A spokesperson from supplier Better Retailing at the time said the move was ‘very much temporary’ and it was looking forward to the chocolate’s return.
A Mars Wrigley UK spokesperson told The Sun: ‘It’s true, we have temporarily had to delist Bounty Dark for operational reasons and we’re working hard to bring the product back when we can.’
The spokesperson went on to assure chocolate lovers that the original Bounty is ‘here to stay’.
But fans are worried the temporary move has now been made permanent, with the newspaper claiming the bar was ‘out of stock’ or ‘unavailable’ at all major supermarkets.
Social media was flooded with upset chocolate fans, with one especially aggrieved customer demanded the ‘criminal who made this decision be arrested immediately’.

He wrote: ‘I was having a bad enough day to begin with, but to make things significantly worse, it has just been brought to my intention that are discontinuing dark chocolate Bounty.
‘I want the criminal who made this decision arrested immediately, and any plans to go through with this to be cancelled [angry face].’
Another person said: ‘Noooooo. Dark chocolate bounty’s beat milk chocolate bounties hands. Mars don’t do this to us [crying face].’
Mars has not confirmed when the chocolate bar could return to UK shelves.
It comes after the original bounty was axed from boxes of Celebrations last year.
