Conor McGregor has opened up about making his film debut alongside heavyweight actor Jake Gyllenhaal – but the MMA star admitted he has no plans to go back to acting anytime soon.

The 34-year-old UFC fighter is set to appear in Amazon’s remake of 1989 action film Road House, starring Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, and Billy Magnussen.

Not much is known about his role  so far, but he will be playing an original character and not himself in the movie, according to Deadline.

In an interview in New York City earlier this week, Conor McGregor gushed about working with Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal, 42, who he described as being very ‘helpful’ while he shooting his first feature film, Road House

Gyllenhaal was seen shooting scenes for the upcoming movie Road House with McGregor at MGM Grand Garden Arena on March 3

In a video interview obtained by DailyMail.com, McGregor gushed about working with the Oscar-nominated star, 42, who he described as being very ‘helpful’ while he was shooting his first feature film.

‘Great man. Great guy. He’s very patient with me, helpful,’ he told journalist Adam Glyn in New York City this week.

Not much is known about his role but he is reported to be playing an original character and not himself in the movie

‘We shot some good stuff for the movie and can’t wait to see it come to fruition.’

The premise of the film is a ‘reimagined’ take of the original and follows Gyllenhaal’s character (Elwood Dalton) who takes on the job of a bouncer at a roadhouse located in the Florida Keys, only to soon find out that all is not what it seems.

But when asked if there were more acting projects for him in the pipeline, McGregor replied: ‘Fighting. I really want to get back to fighting now.’

He added: ‘Everything’s moving really, really well. Had a great experience with the Ultimate Fighter reality show. Some great fights on the show, had some great training with the young hungry guys. And yeah, [the] face off against [Michael] Chandler, I’m excited to get going.’

McGregor though has been out of action since July 2021 after breaking his leg in a defeat to Dustin Poirier.

He is currently coaching on ESPN+ reality series The Ultimate Fighter, and is set to have his return bout against Michael Chandler later this year.

McGregor revealed that he had agreed to a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz for his return

He has also revealed that he wants a shot at the welterweight title – should he beat Chandler in his much-anticipated return to the octagon.

Speaking to The MMA Hour on Thursday, McGregor revealed he had agreed to a third bout with Nate Diaz, but Chandler stepped in at the last to set up a fight with the Irishman.

‘It was originally to be against Nate. It was Nate, me versus Nate,’ he stated during the interview.

‘So I didn’t mind who it was against, to be honest, nor do I mind who I compete against, that’s widely known. So I had agreed to it, it was Nate, it was like a day or two before, now it’s Michael Chandler.

‘I’m not sure what went down on that end, but it was me versus Chandler, and that’s it. I have no problem, I’m happy with it.

But speaking to Glyn, the Dublin-born featherweight admitted it’s Diaz who he considers his most impressive and skillful opponent.

‘Diaz was a tough guy and I look forward to completing that trilogy against Nate at some stage in the game, for sure,’ he said.
