Good morning and welcome to MailOnline’s live blog covering the afterman of last night’s riots in Dublin.

Violence erupted on the streets of the Irish capital after a knifeman attacked a group of children outside a school on Thursday afternoon.

Three young children, a woman in her 30s and a man – said to be the attacker – were all injured. One of the children, a five-year-old girl, was ‘seriously’ injured.

In the aftermath, thugs fought running battles with police, torched vehicles and looted shops as rumours spread on social media about the suspect’s nationality.

Police have only described the person as a man in his fifties.
