Fury as brazen fly-tippers leave a 7x7ft hot tub spa bath on a country lane which is ‘pitch black’ at night due to no street lights

  • Massive hot tub was dumped on country lane in Lytchett Minster, Dorset
  • Village is often blighted by fly-tipping but nothing as big as the 7x7ft tub

Anger is bubbling up in a rural village after brazen fly-tippers dumped a huge hot tub on a country lane.

The spa bath that can fit ten people and would have cost about £10,000 when new was discovered on a country lane in Lytchett Minster, Dorset.

The village is often blighted by selfish acts of fly-tipping but nothing as big as the 7ft by 7ft tub.

It is largely intact but has its sides removed exposing the pipework. Its lid was found nearby on the grass verge.

A label on the side of the Tundra hot tub revealed it was made in 2009.

The hot tub was dumped on a country lane in Lytchett Minster, in Dorset, causing fury among locals angry about fly-tipping

It was filled to the brim with construction rubbish although it is not clear whether this was the original culprit or others joining in

It is thought the culprit may have recently taken delivery of a new hot tub and wanted rid of their old one.

The tub has been used as a skip but it is unclear whether the additional rubbish was left by the original culprit or whether others have got in on the act.

A woman living nearby discovered it while walking her dog.

She said: ‘It’s huge, you could probably fit ten people in there.

The lid to the discarded 2009 hot tub was found cast aside on the verge of the country lane

The Tundra hot tub, which was made in 2009, had been ripped out of its fitting. It is not clear why it was dumped

A resident said fly-tipping happens ‘all the time’ on the country lanes in the area as there are no street lights to illuminate the culprits

‘Fly-tipping happens all the time here. It is pitch black at night and there are no streetlights up and down those lanes.

‘They just wait until everyone’s gone to bed and they dump it, nobody’s going to see them.

‘It’s just annoying, it’s just lazy.

‘I know it costs money, but it’ll cost maybe ten times more to have it cleared by the council than it would be if the people actually paid the tip to get rid of it.’

A Dorset Council spokesman said: ‘This large fly-tip was reported to us over the weekend and we dispatched a clean-up crew to remove what we could first thing Monday morning.

‘Unfortunately the hot-tub itself was too big to be transported by any of our Waste Services vehicles, so we coned it off to help protect motorists and requested assistance from our Highways department, who have now removed it.’

The council asked that anyone with information contact them about the fly-tipped hot tub.
