Ghislaine Maxwell's former London mews house has been empty since 2021

Ghislaine Maxwell’s former London mews house ‘where Prince Andrew was pictured with his hand around Virginia Roberts’ is gathering cobwebs and has not been lived in since she sold it in 2021 – and neighbours have ‘chosen not to discuss what happened’

  • Neighbours next to Ghislaine Maxwell’s old London mews home hope it will soon be occupied by new owners
  • The site is where notorious photo of Prince Andrew with his arm around Virginia Giuffre was allegedly taken
  • Maxwell, 60, sold the Mews house for £1.75million last year to cover legal fees while facing trial in New York
  • The former lover of Jeffrey Epstein was jailed for 20 years in June after being convicted of procuring teen girls

Neighbours living next to Ghislaine Maxwell’s former London home where the notorious photo of Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre was allegedly taken hope the vacant property will get a new lease of life once it is occupied.

At the moment the house is a taboo subject in the neighbourhood – as locals refuse to talk about the black spot on their street.

The mews house near the flagship Harvey Nichols store in Belgravia, London, has not been lived in since Maxwell sold it for £1.75 million to pay her legal fees in 2021.

And now it is collecting cobwebs and dust as locals grow increasingly frustrated about its eerie past.

They say they now want to move on and hope a family will be able to move in soon.

The former London mews house of Jeffrey Epstein’s madame Ghislaine Maxwell, 60, has lain dormant since she sold it for £1.75million last year to cover legal costs

One, who did not want to be named, said: ‘They repainted it, took the window boxes off. People avoid it.

‘It’s a great house. I think it’d be pretty fun for a young couple actually, living across from a pub.

‘If it’s an American they don’t really care, it’s not like someone died there. But it’s weird – I think most people wouldn’t care.’

The house is said to be where Prince Andrew was photographed with his arm around the bare waist of the then 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre, one of paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s victims.

The prince ended up paying a financial settlement – reportedly as much as £12m – to Ms Giuffre, formally ending a civil case brought against him in the US.

She alleged she was forced to have sex with Andrew three times in 2001, when she was 17, including once in the Belgravia house’s bath, on the orders of Epstein.

Maxwell, 60, was found guilty of procuring and trafficking teenage girls for her former lover Epstein by a jury in December 2021 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Neighbours say they hope the empty house (centre) will soon be occupied, ending a dark chapter in its history

The former socialite most recently claimed she doesn’t believe the famous photo of Prince Andrew with Virginia is real.

Now, those living in homes close to the Maxwell madame’s former mews house say they are ready to move on.

Another added: ‘None of the neighbours have really even mentioned about it or talked about it – it’s very quiet. I think people have chosen not to discuss what happened.’

The house was sold for £1.75 million in April 2021 to help pay Maxwell’s legal fees, before being put up for sale again in January for £2.6 million.

One lady, who lives on the street for only part of the year, said: ‘People keep to themselves a lot here.

‘I think there will be intrigue for quite some time until something happens with Ghislaine. It’ll be infamous for some time.

‘It’s rather interesting that people can be living such entitled lives and make such hideous errors and bad decisions. Where there is power, power corrupts.’

The landlord of The Nag’s Head, who has worked on the road for 40 years, added: ‘It’s all investment – nobody lives here.’

Another business owner added: ‘There won’t be a nice family moving in. It’ll probably be a Russian or an Arab – they’ll buy it and then they’ll disappear for three years.’
