Unhappy campers head home early from Glastonbury and miss Elton John’s rocking finale, saying the festival ‘was awful this year’

Hundreds of festivalgoers left Glastonbury a day early and skipped Elton John’s set after an ‘awful’ year left them feeling ‘let down’.
Hordes of burnt-out revellers passed through the exit gates for good yesterday as many complained ‘the vibe was completely off this year’.
Overcrowdedness, sweltering temperatures and disappointing headline acts including the Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey and Guns N’ Roses were all contributing factors to the mass exodus.
More than 200,000 people pile into the site on Worthy Farm, Somerset, and with tickets costing a minimum of £350 – expectations on the weekend are understandably high.
Liam Rogan, 24, said: ‘Glastonbury’s been awful this year. Nothing has gone well and none of the acts were show-stopping. I left the Arctic Monkeys, they were that awful.’

Audiences at Worthy Farm and watching at home were disappointed with the Arctic Monkeys who performed their lesser-known new material and played all their hits at a sedentary pace.
The high temperatures, which hit 25C (77F) yesterday, was also a driving factor for festival-goers to escape the site.
Mollie Fox, 23, said: ‘The vibe was completely off this year. It’s too hot, dusty and over-packed – they need to stop over-selling tickets.’
Zoe, 47, from South Shields, Tyne and Wear, said: ‘Guns N’ Roses were painfully awful… We moved on to Lana Del Rey but she was so weird and horrible, so we’re just going to leave today.’
