‘Omg I love this sooo much! Thank you for brightening my day❤️,’ one Instagram user commented.

‘Momma loves her little baby!❤️❤️❤️How sweet and heart warming to see,’ another person shared.

‘Reminds of nurses in hospital with newborns…’ another person joked.

Some people, however, called for the animals to be free, while others seemed to be annoyed by the women’s comments in the video.

‘It is surprising that these women are shocked that a mother of any species apart from the human cares for and lives their babies,’ an Instagram user wrote. ‘Of course they do,’ she added.

‘Sad… these animals should be free!!!’ another person commented, while another person wrote: ‘They don’t belong there.’

Calgary’s Zoo is home to six adult gorillas; another one of whom welcomed a newborn in April.

More than 30 million people have viewed the footage of Juba’s reaction to Olivia’s arrival in March. Some said the reflection in the window made it look like Juba was holding the infant in his arms

The birth of the zoo’s newest gorilla is particularly joyous occasion as gorillas are a critically endangered species.

According to Calgary Zoo, wild gorilla populations have decreased by 80 percent over the past 30 years. That, the zoo says, is due to poaching and habitat destruction, mostly by the mineral coltan, which is necessary for cell-phone production.

In March, another heartwarming gorilla video captured was captured in Dallas, Texas, when a zookeeper on maternity leave introduced her baby daughter to one of the gorillas she looked after.

Mary Kate Findley brought her two-month-old daughter, Olivia, to the gorilla compound to show her off to 20-year-old Juba. The footage, which has been shared on TikTok, has been viewed more than 30 million times.
