A devastated family have paid tribute to their ‘beautiful’ 17-year-old daughter who was killed in a horror car crash. 

Lily-May Vaughan died following a smash between a silver Volkswagen Golf she was riding with a boy and a grey Audi A3 on the A53 near Shawbury, Shropshire on February 4. 

She was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, but later died. The boy was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital. 

In a statement issued by West Mercia Police, Lily-May’s family described her as a ‘beautiful, kind and caring young lady.’

The crash happened on the A53 near Shawbury, Shropshire, at 12:10pm on February 4

‘We are heartbroken following the incident and the loss of our angel Lily-May,’ the statement read. 

‘She was a beautiful, kind, happy, caring and loving person who leaves behind a family that loves her dearly and who will miss her each and every day she is no longer with us.

‘We are still coming to terms with the devastating loss of a 17-year-old young lady with the world at her feet and we ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time whilst the police continue their investigation.’

Police said an investigation is ongoing but that no arrests have been made. 

PC Paul Glanville, from the Operations Policing Unit, said previously: ‘Our thoughts are with the families involved especially that of the young woman.’
