Police attended Tiffany's Hotel in Blackpool at 10.39pm on Sunday after reports that a 10-year-old had been found unresponsive.

The child was rushed to hospital after "coming into contact with a high voltage of electricity" in the reception area.

He was unresponsive when the 999 call was made and remains in a critical condition.

The hotel, known locally as the "Pink Hotel", confirmed they had temporarily closed while an investigation took place, and that they were working closely with Blackpool Council.

A spokesman for Tiffany's Hotel said: "We are deeply saddened by this recent incident involving a child who has received a shock on Sunday evening within our reception lounge area.
