I was homeless and addicted to drugs in my teens – now I'm a self-made millionaire & own a business worth seven figures | The Sun

A SELF-MADE millionaire has revealed how she went from being homeless and addicted to drugs to owning a business worth seven figures.

Shani Taylor, 39, from Sydney, spent her teenage years living on the streets before she turned her life around.

She battled serious drug addiction in an effort to cope with her "unstable ad chaotic" home life.

Shani was then thrown out of her family home at the age of 16 where she would spend nights couch-surfing or sleeping on cold street corners.

But in her early 20s, Shani gave birth to her son Oscar and says that he was the key motivator in turning her life around.

Even though Shani never finished high school, she managed to get a job in recruitment and worked her way up into a management role.

During her studies, Shani also took a course on how to start a business which encouraged her to want to become her own boss.

"All the trauma of 28 years and all of the growth, I couldn't see myself going back and working for someone else and clocking on and being in an office environment," she told 7Life.

Now, the single mum heads her own business consultancy firm, Open To Grace, where she provides coaching for businesses to grow and develop.

She began working 18 hours a day, seven days a week but admits that the gruelling shifts were worth it in the end.

“Almost everything else in my life was put on hold so I could fully immerse myself in creating my life the way I wanted it,” she said.

She revealed that in the first 30 days of business, she raked in a massive five-figure paycheck and now three years later, the business is worth seven figures.

“Now, I have more money than I’ve ever had before, more time freedom than I’ve ever had, and a business that serves people all around the world," she said.

This comes after a self-made millionaire revealed his secret to earning £156,000 a month by the age of 30.

Another self-made millionaire, aged just 27, hit out at the haters who called her business idea "stupid".
