Ibrahima Bah, 19, charged with manslaughter over deaths of four people in Channel tragedy | The Sun

A TEEN has been charged with manslaughter after four people died in an English Channel tragedy.

Ibrahima Bah, 19, has been charged with four counts following the fatal incident involving a small boat.

The boat carrying migrants was headed for Britain from France when it capsized in the freezing waters in December last year.

Cops are still trying to establish the identities of the deceased and are working to get in touch with their families.

Kent Police have said 39 other people were safely brought to shore on December 14.

Lifeboats, helicopters and rescue teams working with the French and British navies responded to the incident.

The man, of no fixed address, has also been charged with people smuggling charges – which he will stand trial for later this year.

The teenager will appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said at the time: "I'm sure the whole House will share my sorrow at the capsizing of a small boat in the Channel in the early hours of this morning and the tragic loss of human life.

"Our hearts go out to all those affected and our tributes to those involved in the extensive rescue operation."
