A Lincolnshire chippy has been slapped with a four figure fine for not meeting the ‘basic standards of cleanliness’ and being deemed a ‘health risk’.
Hygiene inspectors stumbled upon a grim scene when they looked around Pisces fish and chip shop in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Environmental Health Officers from Boston Borough Council found filthy work surfaces, walls and equipment, mouldy food, and chicken and kebab meat being stored at unsafe temperatures.
Some fridges were not working at all on three separate occasions between July and October 2022
The pictures also show there were flies found on food and work surfaces.

Yasin Nabi, who ran the chippy on Fenside Road until March this year, admitted that he had not met ‘basic standards of cleanliness and hygiene’ over the course of several months in 2022.
He pleaded guilty to various food hygiene offences at Boston Magistrates’ Court, including breaching the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 Act.
The former owner has been banned from operating a food business and is now facing a whopping four figure fine of £2,972.
Councillor Callum Butler, Portfolio Holder for Environmental said: ‘The public have a right to expect safe food, and we as Council work hard to safeguard Boston residents’ health and wellbeing.
‘This case reinforces the message that we will not hesitate to prosecute food businesses that show a disregard for the safety of their customers – food safety standards are there for a reason.
‘The prohibition order should serve as a warning to other food businesses that we will use every means at our disposal to keep our residents safe.’
Pisces Fish and Chips is now under new ownership.

One review reads ‘The food and service has improved 100% since the new management has taken it up. Absolutely brilliant now.’
Another wrote ‘Good portions. Ordered for 5 people and all were happy. Delivery a bit late but I have placed big order and on busy day, so I assume normally is faster.’
