LATE night host Jimmy Kimmel was slammed on social media for a “soft” interview with President Joe Biden.
The president made his first in-person appearance on a late-night talk show since taking office to speak on gun reform among other pressing topics.
Kimmel opened up the interview by asking about laws regarding gun violence following the rise in shootings, especially the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.
He asked Biden why he won’t take more executive action in regards to gun reform, commenting on the number of executive orders former President Donald Trump made when he was in office.
Biden explained that he has issued executive orders “within the power of the presidency” when it came to guns.
“But what I don’t want to do, and I’m not being facetious, I don’t want to emulate Trump’s abuse of the constitution,” said the president.

The full interview was released on the Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube channel, quickly gaining views as people took to the comments to share their thoughts.
Some criticized Kimmel for being too “soft” on the president.
“This interview was beyond soft that there was no point in chewing,” wrote one user.
Others commented on Biden’s supposed demeanor during the interview and how Kimmel kept interjecting.

“Yea the United States is falling apart, but hey Joe Bidens on a talk show!” wrote another
Twitter users had their own thoughts with someone writing Kimmel led with “a real softball question” for the president.
"Why is Biden on Jimmy Kimmel?" asked another user. "Respectfully, you have bigger fish to fry right now."
Another wrote: "Kimmel is doing a great job of rescuing Biden when he starts rambling."
Kimmel also asked Biden questions on issues such as climate change and abortion, expressing that the country has “moved backwards.”
The president said he was looking into executive orders that could help with abortion access saying, “we're looking into it right now.”

Kimmel would sympathize with Biden’s challenges as president.
