Keir Starmer accused Rishi Sunak of focusing on the Tory civil war over peerages and Partygate rather than the cost-of-living crisis today.
In brutal clashes at PMQs, the Labour leader said while Mr Sunak was dealing with infighting Brits were worried about soaring bills, mortgages and food prices.
The premier hit back that he had ‘followed the process to the letter’ – highlighting that Sir Keir himself has a knighthood.
He also insisted that inflation ‘is falling’, saying the government is still ‘on track’ to hit his target of halving the level this year.

Opening hostilities in the chamber this afternoon, Sir Keir said: ‘All across the country, people are worried about their bills, the price of the weekly shop and the spiralling mortgage rates.
‘So why has the Tory party spent this last week arguing over which of them gets a peerage?’
Rishi Sunak replied: ‘In line with a long-established convention of previous prime ministers having the ability to submit honours, I followed the process to the letter, in convention of long-standing process.
‘It is, by the way, a long-standing convention that prime ministers on both sides to this House have followed in the same way that I did.’
