List of British Airway flights cancelled at Heathrow following IT issues ahead of Bank Holiday

A slew of British Airways flights from Heathrow Airport have been cancelled due to an IT systems failure. 

At least 50 BA flights were cancelled on the afternoon of Thursday May 25, while a large number of inbound flights were delayed for more than an hour.

Are British Airways flights cancelled today? 

Whilst a number of British Airways flights from Heathrow were cancelled, the airline said on Twitter at 11:30pm on Thursday May 25 that its systems were ‘back up and running’, but could still be affected by ‘intermittent issues’.

BA had said it was ‘aware of a technical issue, which we have been working hard to fix’. 

A number of flights were cancelled on Thursday, as well as some BA departures on Friday morning, some of which can be seen below.

Will British Airways cancel my flight?  

British Airways have released a statement acknowledging the systems failure, which has also affected flights departing from Heathrow on Friday. 

More flights may be cancelled as a result.  

On Thursday night, the airline said: ‘While the majority of our flights have continued to operate today, we have had to cancel a number of Heathrow flights due to a technical issue’

‘Affected customers have been contacted and offered options, including a refund or rebooking to an alternative flight with us or another carrier.

‘We are extremely sorry to our customers for the inconvenience caused.’

It came as strikes and staff shortages threaten to wreak havoc for travellers at Heathrow over the bank holiday.

Many security staff are involved in a three-day walkout while, separately, a shortage of workers in baggage handling and managing aircraft was causing problems yesterday.

And the RAC is predicting it will also be the busiest late May Bank Holiday on the roads in years.
