Man rushed to hospital after £850,000 Berkshire home ‘explodes’ – as eight fire engines sent to battle blaze

  • Police, ambulance and the fire brigade attended the blaze in Upper Basildon 
  • Thames Valley Police confirmed today the incident is not considered suspicious 

A man has been rushed to hospital after a £850,000 house exploded leaving one man with serious injuries. 

At least eight fire engines battled the subsequent blaze in Upper Basildon, Berkshire. 

Thames Valley Police said they do not believe the incident is suspicious. 

A spokesman told MailOnline: ‘This was a suspected explosion which caused a fire at a residential property in Aldworth Road, Upper Basildon, to which we were called at 10.42pm. 

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an explosion at a house in Upper Basildon on the outskirts of Reading

‘It is not believed to be suspicious. 

‘A man has been taken to hospital and is in a serious condition.’ 

Fire engines from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue were joined by their colleagues from neighbouring Oxfordshire.
