This is the moment a Utah mother and her two children were rescued by dozens of high school students after they were trapped under a car.
A vehicle ran over Bridgette Ponson, her daughter and her son in the parking lot of Layton Christian Academy in Layton.
Her three-year-old daughter was miraculously able to break free, while a group of approximately 20 students banded together to save the helpless family.
Senior airman, Dominique Childress who was on the campus at the time also joined in on the rescue.
‘The kids were heroes, as well as the gentleman that was there and pulled them out,’ Chris Crowder, associate pastor and CEO of the school told KSL TV.

Bridgett Ponson and her two children, aged three and two, were trapped underneath a car in the parking lot of Layton Christian Academy on Tuesday before they were rescued
School surveillance video shows the moment the students and Childress rush to surround the car.
The large group and others that were near a minivan adjacent to the car join in on the effort.
The students then split up as some grab onto the front of the car and others grab the back before they lift it up as a team.
While they do this, Childress lays on the pavement and pulls the mother and her son out to join her daughter who escaped on her own.
Once the three were rescued from under the car, Bridgette’s husband Andrew arrived at the scene and saw his son with a bloodied face, someone holding his daughter and his wife leaning against the car.
‘You just feel helpless and hopeless, it’s just a worst feeling,’ Andrew said.
Andrew and Bridgette work together at the school, and he had left the campus right before the incident took place. He said that he saw emergency vehicles zoom past him but thought nothing of it until he got a phone call.
‘And I realized all those cops and the ambulances, that was for me because something happened to my family,’ Andrew said.
As the freak incident took place, Crowder ran inside the building to gather the students to help out.

Andrew Ponson had just left the school before the freak accident happened. He turned around as soon as he got a call about it and was relieved his family wasn’t seriously injured
‘We have about 220 domestic kids and over 300 international kids at the school. They just heard me yell. All these kids from different countries just come running out and lift it up,’ Crowder said.
The two-year-old was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, while Bridgette and her daughter were taken there by ambulance.
As her and her child were trapped under, Childress said that Bridgette shielded her son from the weight of the car as much as she could.
‘You hear it all the time- super mom, super abilities, and in that moment that’s what it was,’ Childress said.
The two children have since joined their father back home as Bridgette heals in the hospital.
She is expected to make a full recovery but will have to be in a wheelchair for around eight weeks once she’s released.
One of the students, Theophilus Roch helped rescue the family and told ABC 4 News that he reacted as soon as he heard people were in shock.
‘Once we figured out what was going on, we got together and lifted the car,’ Roch said.
Senior airman Dominque was at the school at the time of the incident and rushed over to help. While the students lifted the car he crawled under and rescued Bridgette and her son

He revealed that the task was difficult, but because there were so many people helping, they managed to get the car that weighed over 4,000lbs off of the family.
Investigators reported that the driver of the vehicle stopped to corporate with police, and she was allegedly driving slowly through the parking lot.
Police revealed that the glare of the sun in her eyes might have played a role in the accident.
Andrew, who knows all of the teens that helped out doesn’t know how he will keep his composure the next time he sees them.
‘They came and introduced life and they introduced love and hope and peace into this scenario with their generosity, their kindness and compassion,’ he said.
A GoFundMe page has been created for the family to help cover medical costs and as of Thursday afternoon it has raised $23,472.
