  • The uninsured driver was jailed for 16 months after admitting four charges

This is the moment a disqualified driver led police on a four-mile chase that saw him drive the wrong way round a roundabout with his two children in the back of the car.

Adam Clark, 37, from Dornie Drive in Birmingham, sped at 90mph in 40mph zones, after failing to stop for police while leaving Alvechurch village on May 26.

The uninsured driver was then filmed driving into oncoming traffic before puncturing three of his tyres by driving over a stinger set up in the road.

Clark was later arrested in a cul-de-sac after trying to flee the vehicle, which had been stolen from the Merry Hill shopping complex earlier in the month.

He has now been jailed for 16 months and banned for driving for four years and 11 months after pleading guilty to four separate charges at Redditch Magistrates Court.

The chase saw him overtake across white lines, drive into oncoming traffic, and go the wrong way around a roundabout.

The blue Ford Fiesta had been stole from the Merry Hill shopping centre, near Dudley, earlier in the month and was displaying false number plates.

Clark failed to stop for police while leaving Alvechurch, in Worcestershire, after being followed by police.

He was subsequently caught and arrested after abandoning the stolen vehicle in the road.

In a police interview, Clark denied having been in the vehicle denied having any connection to the car’s three passengers, including his own two children.

However, Clark later pleaded guilty to four charges including dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, using a vehicle without motor insurance, and driving while disqualified on July 18 at Redditch Magistrates Court.

The driver was sentenced on August 18 to 12 months in prison for dangerous driving, alongside one month concurrent for failing to provide a specimen.

He was also jailed for a further four months in prison consecutively for driving while disqualified, meaning his total sentence is 16 months imprisonment.

Clark was also disqualified from driving for four years and 11 months, with an extension period of eight months.
