Photographers hail the ‘unbelievable’ moment they captured a ‘halo’ around the moon as observers compare it to ‘a nighttime rainbow’

Photographers have hailed the ‘unbelievable’ moment they captured a ‘halo’ around the moon while observers compared it to a ‘nighttime rainbow’.

Good Morning Britain meteorologist Laura Tobin said the phenomenon is caused by the refraction of moonlight from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.

Many people took to social media to share photos they took of the halo, including Angie Burns, a TV and radio presenter at Marlow FM.
