Prince Harry’s hilarious mobile voicemail message on Queen’s phone revealed – and how she reacted | The Sun

A HILARIOUS message that Prince Harry recorded for the Queen's voicemail has been revealed the day after the duke paid tribute to his grandmother.

When Her Majesty first got a mobile, she asked the Duke of Sussex to come up with a voice note for when she couldn't get to the phone.

Sharing a bond through their good-natured humour, Harry comically said down the line: “Hey, wassup? This is Liz.

"Sorry I’m away from the throne. Press one for Philip, two for Charles and three for the corgis!”

Royal author Phil Dampier said in his piece for The Express that while the Queen's private secretary "got the shock of his life" when he heard it, the Queen "just laughed".

In the days since losing his 96-year-old granny, Harry has made an emotional tribute to mark the end of her historic reign.

His statement praises her as his "guiding compass".

Mr Dampier said the statement was "undoubtedly heartfelt, well thought out and sincere" but questions if Harry holds regrets over how the past couple of years played out.

He said: "I do not have any doubt that he loved her deeply. But surely he must have realised the pain she suffered as she saw him leave the bosom of the royal family and then fire potshots at the monarchy from their new home in California.

"Knowing that she was 96 and increasingly frail it seems incredible that the couple had no plans to visit her at Balmoral during what was due to be a brief visit to Europe.

"Now it is too late. It was only by chance that the Sussexes were in the country when she died but now they will undoubtedly stay on for the funeral."

In a heartfelt statement, the Duke of Sussex said he cherishes the special times The Queen met his "darling" wife Meghan and hugged his kids.

Harry, who alongside Meghan joined William and Kate in speaking to mourners outside Windsor Castle on Saturday, also included a line referencing his grandfather the late Duke of Edinburgh.

STATEMENT IN FULL

“In celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen – and in mourning her loss – we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty.

“She was globally admired and respected. Her unwavering grace and dignity remained true throughout her life and now her everlasting legacy.

“Let us echo the words she spoke after the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, words which can bring comfort to all of us now: ‘Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings.’

“Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings – from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.

“I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over. And as it comes to first meetings, we now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III.

“Thank you for your commitment to service. Thank you for your sound advice. Thank you for your infectious smile.

“We, too, smile knowing that you and grandpa are reunited now, and both together in peace.”

And he also referenced his father, with whom his relationship is said to have been strained in the touching tribute saying: “And as it comes to first meetings, we now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III.”

It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Saturday travelled in the same car as William and Kate in a show of unity after years of speculated rifts.

The foursome appeared to put their differences aside to greet huge crowds on the Berkshire estate as they collectively grieved the Queen, who died at Balmoral aged 96 on September 8.
