Shameless driver, 19, locked up for 12 months after 90mph police chase

Shameless driver, 19, boasts of being chased by cops at speeds of up to 90mph by posting the footage on his social media account – as he’s locked up for 12 months

A shameless 19-year-old driver has been locked up for 12 months after he led police on a 90mph car chase and posted it on his social media.

Philip Amue was captured on police dashcam footage as he sped through the streets of Wales during the middle of the day.

The teenager refused to stop for officers before the tyres of his Volkswagen Bora were punctured by a stinger, the court heard.

Prosecutor Anna Price said Amue posted footage of the police chase on his TikTok account after he was sent it by his solicitors.

He captioned the video: ‘Bora vs police #video #policechase #UKpolice’

Caernarfon Crown Court heard Amue claim he had driven from from the West Midlands to Anglesey, North Wales, to ‘clear his head’.

He was first seen entering Anglesey in Wales, on the Menai Suspension Bridge, at roughly 3pm on March 4 before going down an unclassified road.

He was shortly after approached by police before he reversed and sped off in the direction of where he had just come from, the court heard.

Miss Price said Amue led police on a chase lasting more than eight minutes while officers reached speeds of 90mph.

Amue sped through Beaumaris town centre before his tyres were punctured and he was blocked by two police cars and an officer with a Taser.

After being stopped, officers discovered number plates inside the car, which were registered to his address in Dudley.

The number plates on the Bora were cloned and did not match his vehicle.

Amue, of Kingswinford, Dudley, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without a licence, and driving with false number plates.

Defending Richard Edwards said Amue, now 20, had a ‘passion’ for cars and likes to buy and modify vehicles but had only passed his theory test.

Judge Recorder IWL Jones said: ‘You were driving through a busy town centre in the middle of the day. I shudder to think what would have happened if say a young child was crossing the road.

‘It’s a miracle no-one was seriously injured or killed as a result of your driving. It’s perfectly obvious you have no care for road safety or other road users.’

Amue was sentenced to 12 months and disqualified from driving for three years and four months.
