Teachers chopped up my teen daughter’s false eyelashes & made her a laughing stock in front of her friends – I’m furious | The Sun

A FURIOUS mum has slammed teachers who chopped up her teen daughter’s false eyelashes and made her a laughing stock in front of her friends.

Martina Cantor, 37,  has hit out at Harris Academy secondary school in from Beckenham, south-east London, after her daughter Rhenne was pulled aside for wearing false eyelashes.

The mum-of-three says teachers took a pair of scissors to her daughter's lashes after a teacher spotted they were glued to her real ones.

Martina said: “The teachers didn’t notify me they were unhappy, or ask Rhenne to get them out when she got home – they just butchered them and did a total bodge job leaving them all completely different lengths.

“It was too close to her eyelid on one. The middle had a big chunk taken out."

The mum says her daughter relies on false lashes because her natural ones are "very minimal".

As a compromise, Rhenne began wearing shorter lashes that aren't much longer than her real ones.

But because of a curl at the end of the lashes, the teacher noticed.

Martina said: “Rhenne is at an age where she’s trying to find herself, and she and her friends experiment with them – it’s a new trend.

"Other girls have worn them to school, but nothing’s happened."

After the pastoral leader pulled Rhenne aside, she was taken off to her hub teacher.

She said: “Afterwards, one of her friends said ‘What’s happened to your lashes?’ She got laughed at by her friends and was embarrassed. It’s now effected her confidence.

“I wasn’t aware of any specific policy that you can’t wear false eyelashes from what I have read about rules.”

Martina went to the school after the incident and asked to speak tothe staff members involved.

She said: “They said they were investigating, and they must have spoken to the teachers involved.

“Then on Friday I went in again and the safeguarding leader said what they did was unacceptable and they apologised for letting us down. The local authority has also been informed."

A Bromley Council spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of an allegation from a parent to a Bromley school and we are currently looking into this.
