Homeless, addicted to cocaine and booze and stealing from her own mother; it’s fair to say that, at just 27 years old, Eliza Rose Watson had hit rock bottom.
After years of substance abuse, the model was sleeping on a park bench and admits she had become a ‘nightmare’ for her family – including her mum, who ‘almost started grieving’ her.
But fast forward a few years and the glamour model, now 34, has turned it all around, raking in £200,000 per month thanks to the X-rated pictures and videos she shares on social media platform OnlyFans.
The star is in hot water this week, however, over her most recent marketing strategy, which consists of a string of billboards in London that show her dressed in a bikini next to her OnlyFans username – with one situated round the corner from a school.
While some accused her of promoting pornography to youngsters, Eliza Rose has played down the outrage by claiming the imagery used is ‘less racy than ads you see for lingerie’.

Before finding success online, the performer had ‘no shame’ in shoplifting and asking strangers for as little as 20p in a bid to get her next fix – and she tried to take her own life on multiple occasions.
But Eliza Rose’s mother vowed to get her help after finding her daughter hurting herself in her bedroom, and decided to involve recovery group Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
In a documentary short by Truly last year, Eliza Rose said of her lowest moment: ‘My relationship with my family at that point was ruined… I had become a nightmare.’
Her mother added: ‘It was terrifying, there was a lot of friction between me and her, I felt I was losing my daughter and almost started to grieve, like I had lost her.’
Eliza Rose said when she first began the recovery process, experts told her ‘if you put the drink and the drugs down your life will get miraculously better’.
She adds: ‘I said to them in my head ”no it bloody won’t”, but they were right and over the last year I’ve just made a million dollars.’

But while legions of her fans see her as an inspiration, others believe she has taken things too far with her most recent marketing strategy of erecting billboards to promote her raunchy content.
The huge billboards have been spotted in at least three different areas of the capital; in Harrow, Edgware and Lambeth.
Outraged locals expressed their dissatisfaction at the model’s marketing strategy, with one in Harrow defacing the advert by spray painting the message ‘Keep porn off our streets’.
One Harrow resident, who did not want to be named, slammed the ads, saying: ‘The gambling, alcohol, and tobacco industries are regulated on how and to whom they are able to advertise, with particular regard to the need to protect children, young people, and those who are vulnerable from being harmed or exploited.
‘The billboard is not only visible to anyone at all times but is also less than half-a-mile away from two schools, one of which being for primary school children and shares a road with the advertisement.
‘Naturally, this is on the same route parents would take their children to school. Regardless of what the intended audience may be, it is a matter of fact that pornographic services are being promoted to children in this instance.’

The UK’s advertising watchdog, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has said it is reviewing complaints made about the advert. In a statement, the ASA said it had received five complaints in total.
Ms Watson, who is now thought to be a millionaire from her online cam business, said she understands why some would be worried about children potentially accessing adult entertainment.
But the former preschool teacher-turned adult content creator claimed OnlyFans is ‘one of the most protected platforms’ against underage people accessing pornography.
She said there were months of planning and discussions regarding advertising regulations to make sure the advert would be approved and would not be harmful to children.
Comparing her billboard to underwear marketing, she said hers ads were ‘less sexy than Ann Summers’ and ‘well within advertising guidelines’.
She said: ‘But to the people that are in general offended just because it’s kind of not something that’s done – there’s many other adult-oriented ads.

‘There’s ads for alcohol, there’s ads for gambling, there’s ads for Ann Summers, and you encounter those walking down the high street on a daily basis.’
According to the model, one of the reasons she paid for the billboards was to ‘break the stigma’ surrounding the subscription platform which has been popularised by people posting raunchy content behind a paywall.
She added: ‘The more people can open up the dialogue about it, the less secrecy and shame or potential misuse of the platform.
‘People were very supportive, like my subscribers were really excited and my mum and dad loved it. I sent it to my mum and dad as soon as it went up.
‘Given the careful thought and consideration behind it and looking into any legitimate harm that could be done to a child, I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.’
Eliza Rose made her first million in just 12 months after joining the platform at the end of 2019 and leaving a teaching job to earn more cash.
She now credits the site with keeping her on the straight and narrow, as well as helping her escape homelessness – with the model now able to buy her dream home.
With her earnings, Eliza Rose has paid back everything she took from her mother and continues to pay money into her account.

After falling out with her family, the psychology graduate didn’t have a fixed address and became homeless, sleeping at friends’ houses or on the sofas of random men
She began dabbling with cocaine and other drugs, staying out all night and going on benders that would last for days.
However, between the ages of 23 and 27, her drug use and drinking escalated and she nearly lost everything.
The glamour model admits she would ‘lie, cheat and steal’ to fund her habit, regularly shoplifting booze, begging strangers for money and taking pay cheques without doing the work.
Eliza Rose previously said: ‘There were quite a few times I’d get paid before a job and then just not turn up or call in sick and then never speak to them again.
‘I had no shame. I thought nothing of brazenly walking up to people and asking them for 20p – telling them I needed to get the bus home or use the payphone.
‘Once I was so desperate for a drink I put up a post on Facebook about not being able to sleep because there was a spider in my bedroom.
‘A random guy asked how he could help and I said I needed a drink to get me to sleep. I ended up walking round to this bloke’s house at 2am for half a bottle of gin.
At the height of her addiction, Eliza Rose would frequently ask her mother for money, saying it was for taxis or food but instead spending it on her addictions, or would steal it from around her house and take alcohol and cigarettes
‘He probably thought he was going to get a date out of it but I just listened to him rant on about politics.’

Her life changed when a friend of a friend invited her to come to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
Eliza Rose said: ‘She turned up at my door one day and I was so tired that I went with her.
‘I was at the end of being able to cope. I’d made several attempts at suicide by then, spending time in hospital and police custody. I knew I couldn’t go on.’
Following the AA meetings and staying on track with the 12-step programme, the model slowly but surely began to get back on her feet – even taking on a job as a teacher for children aged two to four.

As she was recovering, Eliza Rose had realised she wanted to do a job that helped people.
She had always been interested in child psychology, so this fitted in well.
The model was completely honest about her substance abuse in the past and the head teacher was very supportive and wanted to give her a chance.
Speaking about the job, Eliza Rose said: ‘Children are such sponges at that age. I loved watching them develop their social skills and seeing their confidence grow.
‘The job was perfect but I wasn’t making enough money. I wanted to be able to pay my mum back the cash I’d stolen from her and others, and be able to stand on my own two feet.’
After attending Alcoholics Anonymous and starting her recovery, Eliza Rose got a job teaching children aged two to four, which she said was perfect due to her interest in child psychology
The model said her teaching job wasn’t paying enough and so started an OnlyFans account in December 2019
However, the former teacher wanted to make more money and so in December 2019, launched an OnlyFans page to top up her salary.
She first played around with it by adding some of her old glamour modelling photos and during the first couple of months didn’t make much money – scraping just a few hundred pounds.
However, by February 2020, Eliza Rose made £2,000 in one month and when the pandemic hit in March, she turned over £100,000 by increasing the time she spent chatting to fans on the site – working around 16 hours a day.
The model, who left her teaching job, credits the site for keeping her ‘sane’ during lockdown and encouraging her to stay fit and healthy, as well as staying off the booze and drugs.
Eliza Rose said: ‘I think everyone’s mental health took a bashing during lockdown but having OnlyFans to focus on and work at kept me sane and sober.
‘I’ve always been slim but since recovering from addiction I love keeping fit and healthy. I exercise six days a week and eat healthily, I want my body to be strong.
She has also made up with her mum but says building up the trust again ‘took a while’ and has paid her mum back the money she took but continues to add money into her account
Eliza Rose said that when she started going out partying, she liked to drink cocktails but by the end was drinking straight vodka and whisky
‘And it wasn’t just wanting to stay fit to earn money from the site, I love being able to talk to my fans.
‘I have about 10 to 15 regulars who I chat with every day. Despite what many people think about OnlyFans it’s not all sexy talk.
‘We talk about everything, such as their families and children. My psychology degree definitely comes in handy.’
Eliza Rose works Monday to Sunday, often 16 hours a day, talking to fans aged between 20 to 60 – including both men and women.
She added: ‘There are women who find me attractive and also women who want fitness tips and advice about OnlyFans. It’s a real community.’
Thanks to OnlyFans, Eliza Rose, once homeless, is now raking in the cash and planning to buy herself a luxurious property in the UK.

‘OnlyFans enables me to have that flexible life and the high I get from exercising is better than any drug or drink.’
